Özet (EN)

Workshop Institution was established with the aim of bringing the detainees and prisoners to the society within the Ministry of Justice in 1997. In our country , over 50.000 detainees and prisoners are trained and employed in 288 workshops managemens in over 1700 workshops in more than 180 sectors. Altough it is out of scope of Law 6331 (Occupational Health and Safety Law) of Punishment and execution Institution, occupational health and safety studies are carried out, action plans of occupational healt and safety are arranged and the trainings are planned and applied t the job security experts engaged in some punishment and executive institutions. In this study, the level of knowledge of the detainees and prisoners, who are worked in Open Penal Punishment Institution workshops in Gaziantep, are measued. According to the results of the survey, the level of knowledge of the detainees and prisoners was found low. It was observed that this result was concluded by many factors. For instance, not appliyng the education of Basic Occupational Health and Safety to the workers, the ametiy of concerned managements of not being dependent on Law 6331, the prisoners 'and detainees' not adopting their jobs fairly, in-house audit instead of job inspector supervisions are some examples. It is believed that the studies must be evaluaed with the scope of Law 6331 by enhancig the trainings and the audits. It should not be regarded that the statistical researches Show that most of the accidents at work are casued by insecure movements. Besides improving insecure situations, the employee-driven movements should be supressed.
