Abstract (EN)

In this study, corporate carbon and water footprint calculations were made based on the greenhouse gas emissions caused by sectoral cement production and the amounts per unit production were examined. Approximately 90% of the Cement production CO2 emissions, which are considered sectorally, originate from calcination and fossil fuel use within the clinker production process, which is an intermediate product throughout the production process. This situation is one of the key points in the sector that causes emissions during the climate change process. Since climate changes cause greenhouse gas effects; Monitoring and evaluating carbon and water footprints to measure the impact on our world is one of the most important issues today. Determining greenhouse gases during and after the production process and how to reduce them, monitoring and protecting the use of water from our limited natural resources, reducing water consumption, recycling and reusing play an important role in the future of our world. This study provides general information about greenhouse gas emissions, corporate carbon footprint and calculation methods. It also includes a guide that corporate-level cement industry-specific carbon footprint calculators can use and a case study on how to evaluate the calculation results. Companies should integrate corporate carbon management into their structures. Studies on this subject will contribute to the progress of companies by overcoming problems that are seen as obstacles in the future. The use of traditional coal and its derivatives such as petcoke and lignite as fossil fuels in cement production significantly affects greenhouse gas emissions, causing the climate crisis. In this study, alternative fuels and alternative raw materials should be used instead of fossil fuels, which are widely used and in large quantities in the cement industry, in the management of the climate crisis. In addition, the use of traditional coal and its derivatives instead of wastes suitable for use as alternative fuels with high biomass content still causes significant CO2 emissions.
