Measurement of jets in the forward region with the CMS experiment

Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, jets observed in the forward region were investigated by using PYTHIA6 and HERWIG++ Monte Carlo models at the center of mass energy of 8 TeV in proton-proton beam collisions. The jet energy resolution and the jet response were obtained for the jets detected by the hadronic forward calorimeter HF, located in the forward rapidity of the CMS detector. Further, the differential cross section of the jet detected in the forward region was compared with various Monte Carlo models and the data obtained with the CMS detector. The different jet algorithms are used to identify the stored energy inside the jet towers within the calorimeters. In this study, the anti-kT jet algorithm with jet cone radius R = 0.7 was used.
