Child labor and problems experienced by child workers (Kirklareli province example)

CHILD LABOR AND PROBLEMS EXPERIENCED BY CHILD WORKERS (KIRKLARELI PROVINCE EXAMPLE) The purpose of this study is to define the issues that child laborers face, the variables that influence those issues, and the degree to which public policy regarding child labor can address these issues. The most of the studies on child labor were carried out with the intention of preventing child labor, according to the literature review on the subject. Research on detecting and resolving issues related to child labor has been shown to be quite sparse. One of the qualitative research techniques employed in this study was the in-depth interview methodology. A semi-structured interview form was developed in this direction. Interviews were conducted with 14 individuals who were employed as child laborers in the Kırklareli small-scale industrial zone. A thematic content analysis was carried out once the acquired data were converted into full text and imported into the MAXQDA. Face-to-face semi-structured interviews were held with the individuals selected using convenience sampling. The study found, among other things, that child laborers are hired in defiance of the law, that inspections are not conducted, that governmental regulations are not enforced, and that they work in hazardous settings. Additionally, it has been noted that employers and enterprises do not consistently adhere to the limitations outlined in the ÇSGB (Ministry of labor and Socail Security) regulation on the employment of child and young workers, including working age restrictions, job qualifications, and working and rest periods.
