Examining flooring materials in relation to user needs for children's pediatric interior design

Health structures are structures where user and design-oriented functionality is at the forefront. Hospitals are among the health systems' best-equipped structures in terms of technology, economy, society, etc. They appear as multipurpose structures that, by being segmented into smaller parts based on conditions, appeal to a variety of users. This research aims to identify user needs and assess the factors influencing flooring material selection for these needs, as well as to shed light on the parameters that shape the spatial organization of children's outpatient clinics. Initially, a review of the literature was done on the factors that determine the space, the users' fundamental requirements, how children's clinics are organized inside, and the types of flooring that are used. In the following phase of the research, floor covering materials in this unit's auxiliary spaces and children's outpatient clinics within the designated sample area were inspected. A method of analysis has been developed to assess the state of flooring materials that meet user requirements. It was determined that while some of the materials partially satisfied user requirements, others only partially met them when the study's data was analyzed considering users' needs in paediatric outpatient clinics.
