Examination of the relationship between childhood traumatic experiences and early maladaptive schemas

In this study, it is aimed to evaluate the relationship between childhood traumatic experiences and early maladaptive schemas.In addition, it was investigated whether YŞÖ-KF3 and ÇÖYÖ-KF sub-dimensions differed according to various sociodemographic variables.The sample of this research was 415 (147 female, 268 male) students who were educated in Dumlupınar University in 2017-2018.Sociodemographic Information Form, Young Schema Questionnaire Short Form-3 (YŞÖ-KF3) and Childhood Experience Questionnaire Short Form (ÇÖYÖ-KF) were applied to participants.The obtained information was analyzed with the SPSS 24 program. Parametric analysis methods were used because the data show normal distribution. According to findings; Positive and statistically significant relationships were found between the YŞÖ-KF3 and the sub-dimensions of ÇÖYÖ-KF. The mean scores of the ÇÖYÖ-KF Emotional Neglect subscale differed significantly from the various sociodemographic variables.The mean scores of the subscales of YŞÖ-SF3 also differed significantly according to various sociodemographic variables.The results were discussed on the basis of the related literature and made some recommendations.
