Abstract (EN)
Childhood is defined as a process that begins with birth and continues until the age of 18. As a matter of fact, while the concept of child represented an age category in the first studies, it began to be examined socially in the following period. Although the child is a biological being, he is a social creature. Although the concepts of child and childhood are used interchangeably, they differ. The understanding of childhood contains the social, cultural and economic traces of the geography or region in which it is located. Approaches to the concept of children and childhood have changed throughout the historical process. As a matter of fact, these changes have caused the concept of child to gain an active character. Every period is of great importance for the child, society and family institution. Along with social changes, the concept of child, family and changing relationship styles require sociological examination. The child is important for society in general and for the family and parents in particular. For this purpose, it is aimed to examine the concept of childhood sociologically and to understand what today's understanding of childhood is like. Nowadays, family structures are child-centered, and there are changes in family relations due to factors such as parents' busy working hours and technological developments. Therefore, in this study, "How is the concept of time evaluated in the parent-child relationship?" The answer to the question has been sought. For this purpose, parents' and children's perceptions of childhood, today's family structure and relationships, and how much time they spend were tried to be analyzed. In the research, semi-structured interview technique was used to ensure that the research was purposeful and content analysis was conducted. As a result of the evaluations, parents and children responded that they spent limited time together. The time spent was explained within the framework of shared activities such as eating and watching television.
