Abstract (EN)

In this thesis study, the effects of brace type and placement location on the seismic performance of multi-story steel structural systems were examined based on the Turkish Seismic Code 2018 (TSC 2018). For this purpose, a total of 12 braced systems, consisting of three different brace types (concentric and eccentric) and four different placement scenarios for each, were modeled and compared with the reference structure, which consists solely of a moment-resisting frame system. All structural analyses were performed using the nonlinear static analysis (pushover analysis) method in SAP2000 software. For each model, plastic hinge distributions, base shear forces, maximum horizontal displacements, structure weights, first natural periods, and ductility capacities were calculated. Based on the findings obtained, the effects of different brace types and locations on the nonlinear behavior of the structure were examined in detail and presented in the literature.
