Abstract (EN)
In this study, it is aimed to determine the optimum design parameters of thin-walled tubes, which are placed on the skeleton of cars and minimize the damage due to impact, using the Taguchi Experimental Design method. Within the scope of the problem, it is desired to optimize the energy absorption performance. However, the amount of energy absorption and the peak force during impact are effective in this performance. For this reason, the study was investigated as a multi-response optimization problem in which two different responses were evaluated simultaneously according to condition, material and angle factors. Experiments were carried out according to the L18 orthogonal array. At the beginning of the study, the Taguchi method was applied to the responses separately. The response were evaluated together in the continuation of the study because the optimum factor-level combinations obtained were different. The ROC-CODAS approach was used to transform the multi-response problem into a single-response problem. The optimum parameters were found as static condition, St52 material and 0° angle. Analysis of variance was performed to examine whether the factors had a significant effect on the responses. It was seen that the effect of material and angle factors was significant, while the effect of the condition factor was insignificant. It has been shown that 99.3% of the effect of the factors on the energy absorption performance can be expressed with the developed nonlinear regression model. It is expected that the designed tubes with the determined optimum parameters will cause less damage due to the positive effect on the energy absorption performance during the impact.
