Building typologies and preservation status in rural areas of Osmancık and its surroundings in Çorum province

Rural areas are compatible with the area they are located in terms of climate and topography; they reflect many features of the past of the societies they belong to with their cultural and architectural features. Rural areas constitute a whole heritage with the structures and values they contain. Rural heritage faces many problems due to developing and changing living conditions and needs. In the process of adapting to changing living conditions, the transfer of rural heritage to future generations is faced with threats. In this study, the region where Osmancık District, which was an important center in the Ottoman period, where settlements were seen in the process from the beginning of settlements in Anatolia to the present day, continues to be important for Çorum Province today. The danger of abandonment and extinction that rural areas face today is also a threat for Osmancık District and the surrounding rural areas. Kuzhayat village, Hanefi village, Alibey village and Kuzköy in Osmancık district are rural settlements which have traditional architectural identity but are in the process of change. In this context, the study has been prepared in order to examine the development process of these rural settlements from the past to the present and to document the architectural heritage that has been lost / almost lost in terms of building typologies.
