Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to contribute to the development of new ideas about the impact of the pandemic on urban environments and to the search for solutions for the design of healthier environments in the context of landscape design. In this direction, one of the aims of the study is to discuss a wide range of social distance / distancing practices, which are one of the protection measures taken to reduce the spread of the virus during the COVID-19 pandemic process, but completely opposite to the interactive nature of urban life, from small to large scale, from spatial to non-spatial, from permanent to temporary ones. To evaluate these applications within the framework of conceptual approaches, design strategies, spatial components and elements, material and detail design, to discuss how they deal with social distance, and to reveal the design propasals that can be applied for future landscape designs were also aimed. In the thesis study, research material (122 samples) was collected by non-constrained snowball sampling method. The absence of landscape architects in the examples examined in the thesis study emphasizes the importance of this study in terms of filling a gap in the field of landscape architecture, and it has a unique value by emphasizing what landscape architects should consider in their designs.
