Abstract (EN)
Actinomycetes are GC base content high, filamentous and Gram positive bacteria. This bacterial group produces important compounds such as enzyme and antibacterial substances among secondary metabolites. These compounds, which have high commercial value, are used in various industrial areas. In this study, enzymes and antibacterial activities of actinomycetes isolated from Cystoseira sp. algae compost were investigated. The morphological and physiological characterization of 6 actinomycetes isolates which shows high enzyme and antibacterial activity was performed as well as molecular identification according to 16S rDNA sequence analysis. A total of 73 actinomycetes isolates (BSC) were isolated from the compost samples. When the enzyme activity results of actinomycetes isolates were evaluated, it is found that 68,5% of these have amylase, 100% have celulase, 47,9% have chitinase, 94,5% have pectinase, 98,6% have protease and 96,3% have lipase/esterase enzyme activities. Results of antibacterial activity assay showed that 98,6% of the isolates had very high activity on Staphylococcus aureus, 84,9% of the isolates had very high activity on Enterococcus faecalis. It has been determined that the actinomycetes isolates (BSC-13, BSC-17, BSC-37, BSC-38, BSC-45 and BSC-49) showing high enzyme and antibacterial activity belong to Streptomyces genus according to 16S rDNA sequence analysis.
