The effect of U type slots on the circular monopole based UWB antenna radiation properties

Abstract (EN)

In this study, antenna designs which can reduce communication interferences for UWB systems by using U type slots are proposed. UWB systems enable high capacity communication over short distances using low power. However, there are various narrow band systems in the bandwidth where communication is provided. Some bands of the UWB antenna or communication system are weakened by various techniques according to the spectrum conditions so that the UWB systems do not interfere with these systems. In the literature, various types of bands can be attenuated by using slot structures, SRR, CSRR, EBG, stub structures and parasitic additional structures in several ways, or by making a number of changes on the ground plane. In the first part of this thesis, after giving general information about antennas, it is briefly evaluated about UWB communication and the importance of antennas at this point. In the following, a summary of the literature review is presented and the most prominent studies in the literature on UWB antennas are discussed. In the second part, the proposed U type slot method is explained and the effect of slot length on frequency is explained mathematically. The studies are classified according to the proposed antennas and the simulation and experimental studies are presented together. In this study, 3.1 - 10.6 GHz UWB bandwidth is provided with circular monopole antenna. Then, the design and production of two band stop antennas and three band stop antennas were realized. To prevent interference with the WLAN, WIMAX and X band satellite systems, two U-shaped slots are formed on the radiating patch and one on the microstrip feed line. It is observed that the experimental laboratory results and the simulation results generated on the CST microwave studio program are compatible with most of the UWB bands. In addition, a single band stop antenna is created on the simulation program and the effect of the slots on the system is examined by changing various parameters.
