The curriculum of "Darülmuallimat" and "Ahmet Mithat Efendi" as a teacher in "Darülmuallimat"

This study has been conducted to display the similarities between the mission and basic skills of Darülmuallimat (Female Teacher Training Institution) and "the idealized woman" in Ahmet Mithat Efendi's literary work. The student profile which this institution was trying to create according to its mission and courses has been analyzed. This student profile was compared with the idealized woman image in Ahmet Mithat Efendi's literary works, Diplomalı Kız (The girl with the diploma), Ana Babanın Çocuk Üzerindeki Hukuk ve Vezaifi (The responsibilities and rights of parents over their child), and Peder Olmak Sanatı (The art of being a father). A graduate of this institution was compared to Ahmet Mithat Efendi's idealized "ahlaklı kadın" (virtuous woman) and "nitelikli ev kadını" (qualified house wife).
