Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to investigate the attitudes of secondary school students with ADHD in terms of gender, age and parental education level variables and to determine the views of these students to math. Quantitative and qualitative case studies are used together in this study. The sample of the study consisted of 75 secondary school students without ADHD in the schools that belong to Gebze District National Education Directorate in Kocaeli Province and 65 secondary school students with ADHD who are enrolled in the Guidance Research Center of Gebze District National Education Directorate. As data collection tools; Self-directed Mathematics Learning Attitude Scale and semi-structured interview form were used. Independent sample t test and one-way ANOVA test were used in the Self-directed Mathematics Learning Attitude Scale analysis via SPSS 15.0 package program. According to the findings of the study, it was seen that the students with ADHD had a negative attitude compared to the students without ADHD. There was no significant difference in self-directed mathematics attitudes of students with ADHD according to gender and age. Besides there was a signicant difference in self-directed mathematics attitudes of students with ADHD according to their parents' attitudes. According to the findings obtained from the interview forms, it was seen that most of the students with ADHD thought that math is difficult and boring.It was determined that the content of the course was important in the attitudes of the ADHD students towards the mathematics course and their opinions about the mathematics course and that the students liked to learn with different activities.
