Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to evaluate whether 6-Shogaol (6-SHO) application has beneficial effects on alleviating testicular tissue oxidative damage in experimental rat torsion detortion (T/D) model. For this purpose, 18 male Wistar rats were weighed and divided into 3 groups in our study. The groups were planned as sham, T/D and 6-SHO+T/D. In sham group rats, scrotal incision was made and re-closed but no treatment was applied. In the T/D group, an incision was made in the midline of the scrotum, the left testis was released and the scrotum wall was fixed by twisting it 720° counterclockwise. In the 6-SHO+T/D group, the T/D model was created and 6-SHO was administered as intraperitoneal (i.p.) at a dose of 20 mg/kg 30 minutes before detorsion. Oxidant and antioxidant parameters were evaluated in testicular tissues. In this stduy, it was observed that antioxidant capasity decreased significantly, while oxidant levels increased significantly in the T/D group. On the contrary, it was observed that antioxidant capacity increased statistically with 6-SHO treatment and approached to sham group results, whereas oxidant levels decreased considerably. As a result of, it has been observed that 6-SHO treatment has beneficial effects on alleviating the oxidative damage of testicular tissue of rats.
