Abstract (EN)
This research aimed to determine the direction and level of the relationship between gender roles and leadership characteristics of university students studying sports education, from the perspectives of state and private universities. The target population of the study consisted of students from various departments such as sports management, recreation, coaching education, physical education, and sports. A total of 687 students participated in the study, including 102 from Esenyurt University, 102 from Nişantaşı University, 149 from Marmara University, 92 from Gelişim University, 98 from Bilgi University, and 1113 from Hitit University. This research utilized a quantitative research design, specifically the correlational survey model. Data was collected using a research questionnaire consisting of three sections. The first section included questions related to participants' demographic information, the second section contained the Turkish adaptation of the "BEM Gender Role Inventory" conducted by Dökmen (2009), and the third section included the Turkish adaptation of the "Self-Leadership Scale" conducted by Tabak, Sığrı, and Türköz (2013). According to the results obtained from the research, the type of university attended by university students who receive sports education causes significant differences in all sub-factors of SSB (Self-Efficacy, Self-Assessment, Self-Confidence, Self-Reward, and Self-Punishment). It has been determined that students' gender and the departments they study in cause significant differences in SSB sub-factors as well. Gender of the students has been found to cause significant differences in all sub-dimensions of MAS (Masculinity and Femininity), while the departments they study in cause significant differences in the sub-dimensions of MAS related to femininity and masculinity.
