Abstract (EN)
People living in different parts of the world have communicated in different ways up until today. Today, with the development of technology, globalization is making its impact felt more and more every day. A common language is needed for relations between people in education, social, economic, political, military and many other fields. In the modern era, French was the common language of the world and then the language of the British was used as the lingua franca. English continued to become the lingua franca with the United States of America taking the world leadership in the 20th century. Much as language is a field of study in many disciplines, it is also possible to evaluate language with its role in international relations. Language is not only a tool needed in fields such as commerce, science and education, it is also seen as one of the sine qua non in the integration process of states. In this thesis, language policy in the intergation process of states and its areas of influence, language and national identity as well as supranational identities in this process, the role of language in the field of international politics, the legal framework accepted in international unions, as well as the analysis of both national and international language relations, language integration topics such as the features of the models will be discussed. In the last part of the thesis, the relations between the Turkish-speaking states and the integration process and the effect of the language factor on this process are examined by taking the examples of The European Union, MERCOSUR and The Commonwealth of Independent States. Qualitative research method was used in the study.
