The psychopathologic characteristics religious observers and non-observers attribute to one another

Many researches have been conducted about prejudices of the people who believe in religion (theism) and those who do not believe in religion (deism, atheism). It is atheism and deism, one of the currents of thought that does not believe in religion. Atheism is a movement of thought that refuses to believe in gods and religion (Gülcan, 2017). Deists believe in a God that allows people to act in the universe according to natural laws, but they reject religion and beliefs(Kara,2017). Research so far has generally been related to prejudices against atheists. According to a study, people who are atheists are seen as people with narcissistic personality structure (Dubendorff, Luncher, 2017). There is hardly any research on the atheists' opinions and prejudices about theist people. The subject of this study is to investigate the possibility of neurotic vision of the religious and non-religious groups above the average in terms of neuroticism personality traits in the Kişilik Yapıları Ölçeği (Personality Structures Scale). In addition, according to the Dark Personality Inventory, the non-religious section of the religious segment is expected to consider the narcissistic, machiavelist and psychopathy tendencies higher. The non-religious section was expected to consider the narcissistic, machiavelist and psychopathy tendencies higher than the religious section. The result of this study is that the religious and non-religious groups have seen each other as above-average machiavelist and psychopathic individuals. In addition, the religious and non-religious groups were found not to see each other as neurotic and narcissistic above average. In addition to contributing to the theoretical literature on this subject, it is hoped that it will contribute to the solution of the problems of intolerance and mutual misunderstanding among theists and atheists in our society.
