Performing risk analysis in the faculty of dentistry and evaluating the knowledge, attitude, and behavior of working personnel about risks and hazards

This study was conducted to identify the risks to which the staff of the Faculty of Dentistry is exposed in their working environment and to assess their knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors toward these risks and hazards. For this purpose, a comprehensive risk assessment using the Fine-Kinney risk analysis method was carried out at the Faculty of Dentistry of a University, and the survey method, one of the qualitative research methods, was used with a total of 201 staff to determine the risks, attitudes, and behaviors of the staff working there. According to the risk analysis results, 638 risks were identified, including 71 insignificant risks, 233 potential risks, 189 significant risks, 102 major risks, and 43 intolerable risks. Measures and solutions to be taken in accordance with legislation for these identified risks are presented. A survey was conducted to determine the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors of staff at the Faculty of Dentistry regarding the risks and hazards. In the survey, knowledge, attitude and behaviour were divided into three groups and applied in the context of employees and managers. Three dimensions, namely knowledge, attitude and behaviour, were created for employees and four dimensions, namely behaviour, attitude, precaution and training, were created for managers. Survey questions for these dimensions were determined and coded using letters and numbers. In the survey, the data obtained by investigating the situations of employees with occupational accidents and diseases, as well as the factors they perceive as hazards and risks to themselves, are presented in the results section.
