Problems faced by women entrepreneurs in Ergani district of Diyarbakır and after founding their business

Women think for a long time about starting a new business, developing it and maintaining it successfully. However, women entrepreneurs face various problems arising from factors such as geography, socio-cultural structure, traditions and customs of countries, economy and policies. In this research, it is aimed to determine the problems faced by entrepreneur women in Diyarbakır Ergani district when they set up and after establishing their businesses and to examine the effects of these problems on women entrepreneurs. Descriptive survey model, one of the quantitative research methods, was used to find answers to the research questions. Data were collected from 100 business owner women entrepreneurs in Diyarbakır Ergani district through a questionnaire consisting of 28 questions. The obtained data were transferred to the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) 21.0 package program. Descriptive analyzes and Chi-square test were conducted to answer the research questions. 49.5% of women entrepreneurs decided to become entrepreneurs to start a business because they were unemployed. 60.2% of the participants have at least one entrepreneur in their family. While 58.6% of them supported their entrepreneurial decisions; The mother of 45.5% objected. 46.5% of the participants are not recognized in the market while establishing a business and after establishing it; 35.4% are in business search and rental; 34.3% stated that they had difficulty in finding capital in the traditional belief and pressure of the society, 33.3% in the continuation and growth of the business, and 29.3% in finding raw materials. In business life, 59.6% of women entrepreneurs stated that being an entrepreneur negatively affects their social roles, and 72.7% of them stated that they experience stress due to their work and family life. 38.4% of the participants stated that being an entrepreneur in Ergani is a disadvantage and 21.2% stated that the reason for this is the pressure created by the widespread female roles in the society. There is a statistically significant relationship between the lack of work experience and problems in organizing and the educational status of the spouses of women entrepreneurs. Finally, it was concluded that there is a statistically significant relationship between the lack of work experience and problems in organizing, experiencing difficulties due to bureaucratic procedures and difficulties in the family due to the education levels of women entrepreneurs.
