Abstract (EN)
In this study, the evaluation of modifying natural rosin obtained from natural resins as a binder in the production of thermoplastic road marking paints (TRMP) was investigated. For this purpose, rosin obtained from pine and extraction resin and tall oil rosin were used. Chemical characterization (fatty and resin acids, GC-FID/MS), chemical structure (FT-IR), degradation temperature (TGA), glass transition temperature (DSC), internal structure analysis (SEM), crystalline structure detection (XR-D), mass analysis (LC-MS/MS), particle size analysis (mastersizer), advanced mass analyses (MALDI-TOF-MS ve GPC-HPLC), material characteristic (Wettability-Contact Angle ), color analysis (L*,a*,b*) and acid number value, (mg KOH/g), ASTM D 465 – 05 and softening point, (℃) ASTM E 28 – 99 standard tests were applied and three different types of natural rosins were modified suitable for modification. Optimum synthesis conditions for glycerol ester: nrosin/nglycerol, 2.54, catalyst/antioxidant1 % w/w, 0.5%, catalyst/antioxidant2 %w/w, 1.0%, and for pentaerythritol ester: nrosin/npentaerythritol, 1.0 catalyst/antioxidant 1% w/w, 0.5%, catalyst/antioxidant 2% w/w, 1.0% were determined. Standard tests and analyzes also performed on natural modified rosins like unmodified rosins. Esterification reaction occurred with a maximum yield of 95,445% in glycerol ester rosin and 93,868% in pentaerythritol ester rosin, by GPC-HPLC analysis. Chromaticity coordinates (x, y), gloss factor (β), softening point (℃), UVB aging test and other analyzes (Shore D hardness, touch and powder drying, temperature resistance of polymers) for thermoplastic paints produced from natural modified rosin and petrochemical resins were applied. According to the results of the analysis, most of the thermoplastic dyes (except WRGE and GEK) in accordance with the standard and most of modified rosins were suitable for production of thermoplastic road marking paint
