Gekkonidae fauna of some provinces in the East and Southeastern Anatolia Region

Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to determine the systematics, distribution and some ecological characteristics of the gekkonidae species that are distributed in some of the Eastern and Southeastern Anatolian provinces (Adıyaman, Şanlıurfa, Kilis, Batman, Bingöl, Elazığ). In addition, Mediodactylus kotschyi's Kilis and Kıbrıs populations were compared. According to the published data, 5 gecko species were recorded from Şanlıurfa province (Asaccus barani, Cyrtopodion scabrum, Mediodactylus heterocercus, M. kotschyi and Hemidactylus turcicus), 1 species from Adıyaman province (M. kotschyi), 4 species were recorded from Kilis province (Stenodactylus grandiceps, M. heterocercus, M. kotschyi and H. turcicus ) and 1 species (M. heterocercus) was found in Batman province. There were no records form Elazığ and Bingöl provinces. M. heterocercus species which was known from Kilis province with previous studies, could not be able to encountered in the present study. In addition, M. heterocercus species from Adıyaman, Elazığ and Bingöl provinces have been determined for the first time. The samples collected in this study were examined morphologically and the results were compared with the available information in the literature.
