Acute toxicity effect of carbamate group i̇nsectisides on rainbow trout and guppy fish

Abstract (EN)

SUMMARY In this study the toxicity effects of carbaiyl, methiocarb and carbostilfan of carbamate group on rainbow trout juveniles (Oncorhynchus mykiss) and guppy (Poecilia reticulata) was investigated. The study was carried out at the following water conditions; for rainbow trout juveniles 15.36 ±1.04°C for temperature, 9.41 ±0.133 mg/1 for disolved oxygen, 7.26 ±0.185 for pH, and 99 ±5.29 mg/1 (CaCOs) for the total hardness of water. These values for guppy were fixed to 20 ±0.82°C for temperature, 8.94 ±0.08 mg/1 for disolved oxygen, 7.01 ±0.07 for pH, and 108.67 ±18.58 mg/1 (CaCOs) for the total hardness of water. The same toxic matter concentrations were used for both fish. The used concentrations were carbaryl of 1, 1.8, 3.2, 5.6 and 10 mg/1; methiocarb of 5.6, 10, 18, 32 and 56 mg/1 and carbostilfan of 0.125, 0.625, 1.25, 6.25 and 12.5 mg/1. The values of LC50 were calculated from the mortality rates obtained from the experiment by using the probit method. According to LC50 values the effect level sequence of toxic matter were Carbostilfan > Carbaryl > Methiocarb. It was determined that guppy fish were more sensitive than rainbow trout juveniles.
