Abstract (EN)

70-75% of the forest area of oriental spruce ( Picea orientalis ( L. ) Link. ) is the subject of artificial regeneration. Oriental spruce is the main tree species in the Estren Black Sea forest region. This tree species grows very slowly in its juvenile stage, whereas, Norway spruce ( Picea abies ( L. ) Karst. ) grows rapidly in the same period. In the forest region of oriental spruce; weeds are very strong and aggressive, for this reason, slow growing oriental spruce seedlings can not compete with this weeds, and regeneration of oriental spruce ( Picea orientalis ( L. ) Link. ) forest is a big problem. Growing rate of Norway spruce is more than twice that of oriental spruce and ecological features of orientalis spruce and Norway spruce are similar. The provenance trials were done on the origin of West Germany, East Germany, Romania, Czechoslovakia and France. In this research, it is found that every origin has different growth rate in different site. It is aimed that the best origin was chose in accordance with the afforestation and reforestation areas. Genetic inheritance and site conditions effect the height growth of origins. The best growing origins, determined in the end of 13 years age of seedlings which were established in different altitude were as follows: Araklı 122/72, Kapuköy- 78/71, Yeniköy - 87/71, Devrik saha-24/72, Sürmene-1 28/72.
