Nursery stage of provanence on lebanon cedar (Cudrus libani A.rich) in Eastern Black Sea Region

SUMMARY Nursery Stage Of Provenance Experiments on Lebanon Cedar (Cedrus libani A. Rich.) in Eastern Black Sea Region Seeds collected from twenty two seed stands of lebanon cedar were used to determine the optimum provenance of lebanon cedar in plantations in Eastern Black Sea Region. Seeds collected were sown at Black Sea Technical University nursery. Seed and seedling characteristics were studied, and the differences between them were determined by analaysis of variance. Quality classes were determined based on height, root-collar diameter, and height and root-collar diameter. Discriminant analaysis was used to evaluate the succes of these clasifications. Morphological distance was determined by the use of penrose formula. The results indicated that seedlings from Isparta-Belcegizl, Denizli-Konak, Amasya-Niksar, Eskişehir-Sultandağı and Mersin- Abanoz 1 could be used in the Eastern Black Sea Region wheras seedlings from Antalya-Akdağ, Antalya^Sevindik, Antalya- Aykınçayi Antalya-Karaçay and Adana-Pozantı could not.
