Investigation of the selection of logistic base places for transportation in Eastern Black Sea region

In the international competition logistics centers have played an important role in development ranking of countries and the progress of the logistics centers in Turkey has managed to reach the level of world standards in recent years. In this study, the economic added value of the existence of a center in the Eastern Black Sea region was analyzed by considering the weighted effect of the transportation factor in the location selection of this center. Evaluation of trade, transportation, population and industry criteria were made by using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. When the provinces of the region are examined according to the specified criteria, it is concluded that the province with the most suitable location is Trabzon and the effect of transportation in the selection of the logistics center location within these criteria has a large impact. In addition, it was determined how the transportation of a possible railway network to Trabzon, which is one of the regional provinces, will affect the priorities of establishing a logistics center.
