Özet (EN)

The Effects of Groins on the Black Sea Coast and A Numerical Model Approach Physcial and mathematical model studies about shore protection structures continue at many countries. But, these studies must be supported by field measurements. Mathematical and physical models provided by data obtained with long terms field study give very good results. Structures which built on coast without examining the data carefully may destroy coast equilibrium. The interferences done against coast, such as the construction of Black Sea Coast Motorway which has started recently, emphasis more and more the importance of this subject. In this study, field measurements are done around some groins in the Black Sea Region and these measurements are compared with the results of a numerical model. Although the duration of measurement of the study being too short is a disadvantage, this is important in terms of being the first field measurement. If the measurements are continued, better results will be obtained. In the first chapter, general knowledge about groins and wave mechanics, literature studies, the sediment regime and wave climate of the region are given. In the second chapter, the field studies and numerical model studies are presented. The third chapter contains the results obtained from the field studies and numerical model studies. In the fourth chapter, the results obtained from the field and numerical model studies are examined. Finally, the coclusions of this study and the suggestions are given in the fifth and sixth chapters respectively.Key words: Groins, Shore Protection, Wave Mechanics, Sediment Transport, Ratio of Amount of Accretion, Field Study
