Analysis of livestock activities in Doğubayazıt district

In today's world, where the world population and the need for food resources are constantly increasing, the need for livestock activities and the food sources obtained from these activities has increased day by day. When we look at the general structure of the economic activities in Doğubayazıt, it is seen that most of the people in the region are engaged in livestock activities and earn their income from this activity. Due to the decrease in income from livestock activities, unemployment has increased significantly in the region, especially in recent years, and this has triggered migration. In this study, suggestions have been made to prevent the aforementioned problems and to continue this activity, which is so important in the region. The main problems of the people who carry out livestock activities have been emphasized, and these problems are tried to be determined by comparing them with the geographical features of the area. In addition to small cattle breeding, the importance of different activities such as beekeeping has been emphasized and the idea that these activities could be increased in the region is tried to be adopted. It has been tried to be proved that livestock activities in the region may vary depending on the climate and landforms of the area. In addition, geographical features such as the population in the region, education, settlement etc. have been tried to be examined and explanations have been made. The identified main problems have been explained and solutions have been offered for them. In the research, mixed research methods, both qualitative and quantitative, have been used together. The study on the research subject first started with the field limitation. Afterwards, the literature on the field was searched and the previously studied sources in the region were examined. Then, these documentary data were collected and evaluated for a certain period of time. These evaluated sources are the livestock data announced by TUIK (Turkish Statistical Institute), the data received from the Provincial and District Directorates of Agriculture, the interviews with some officials working in the Provincial and District Directorates of Agriculture, and finally the interviews with the people who make a living from livestock activities in the region form the base. As a result of the study, it has been revealed how important the small cattle breeding activity is in the region. It has been proven that thousands of people live in the region depending on small cattle breeding activities. It has been determined that the main reason for problems such as unemployment and migration in the area is due to this activity. Various suggestions have been made in order to maintain this activity, to reduce the identified problems and to develop different activities in the region.
