Investigation of the effect of DYNED courseware in teaching foreign languages on academic achivement

Abstract (EN)

The present study explores effect of Dyned English training courseware, which was applied with significant investment and equal expectations, on students' academic achievement. For this purpose, a semi-experimental study was designed; the academic achievements of the students' in grammar and vocabulary in experimental group, which received foreign language training supported with Dyned and control group, which received a continued their conventional training, were examined. Students' gender was examined whether it was effective on academic achievement as well. The study was conducted on a group of 30 students in experimental group and 30 students of control group, consisting of 6th grade secondary pupils both in the same state school in Adıyaman province, Kahta district. An achievement test was used as data collection tool; data collected were analyzed in e-table software. Following item analyses, data were analyzed through independent sample t-test and Mann Witney U test. The result of the study showed that Dyned application had significant effects on students' academic achievement in grammar and vocabulary learning. The gender, on the other hand, did not have any significant effect academic achievement level in terms of Dyned application.
