Perinatal grief care competency for midwives Turkish validity and reliability study of the scale

Abstract (EN)

The research was carried out in a descriptive and methodological type in order to adapt the perinatal grief care compentency scale for midwives (EPYBYÖ) to the Turkish language and to evaluate its validity and reliability.The research was condusted with 285 midwives in the gynecology and the deliver room servise of Adıyaman Kahta, Gölbaşı and Besni District State Hospital. Between 09/12/2022 and 21/01/2023. "Midwives Introductory Information Form" and "Perinatal Grief Care Competence Scale for Midwives" werw used to collect data. Evaluation of the data was done using validity and reliability analyses. As a result of expert opinion analysis. The CGI value was determined to be 0,88. KMO test was found to be 0,849. In Confirmatory Factor Analysis χ2/df 2,667; RMSEA 0,077; NFI 0,90; NNFI 0,93; CFI 0,94; IFI 0,94; SRMR 0,068 fit indices were founda to have " excellent" and " acceptable" values. As a result of the test-retest result of the scale applied at 14- day intervals, the correlation was found to be 0,713. The Croncah α value of the scale was found to be 0,875. As a result of the analysis, EPYBYÖ; it was determined that it consisted of 6 dimension and 25 items. The sub-dimensions of the scale: Factor 1: maintaining belief (8 items), Factor 2: knowing (5 items), Factor 3: being with (3 items), Factor : showing respect (3 items), Factor 5: providing opportunities (4 items), Factor : 6 was found to be self actualization (2 items). The Perinatal Bereavement Care Competency Scale for Midwives was found to be a valid and reliable tool in assessing midwives' bereavement care competency.
