Examining marital satisfaction in terms of family functioning in married individuals who have lost one of their parents

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between family functioning and marital satisfaction in married individuals who have lost one of their parents. The sample of the study consists of 237 married individuals (103 males and 134 females) living in Batman and lost one of their parents before or after marriage. Marital Life Scale, Family Functionality Scale and Socio - demographic Data Collection Information Form that prepared by the researcher were used in the study. In the analysis of the data, SPSS 23.0 package program was used. According to the findings obtained in the study, there was a positive and statistically significant relationship between Family Support, Family Involvement, Family Rituals, Intra-Family Communication and family boundaries subscales of Family Functionality Scale and Marital Life Scale. Family Involvement, Family Rituals, and Family Boundaries subscales were found to be statistically significant predictors of Marital Life Scale scores. Family Involvement, Family Rituals, and Family Boundaries subscales of Family Functionality Scale were found to account for 26 % of Marital Life Scale scores.
