Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this research is to determine the effects of married individuals' parenting styles and family life cycles on their marital adjustment. The research, which was designed in a correlational design for this purpose, was conducted on 400 (220 female and 180 male) individuals determined by criterion sampling technique. The criteria for inclusion in the research sample were to have a child older than 1 year old and to have an ongoing marital relationship. Data of the study were collected via Google Forms using Personal Information Form, Multidimensional Parenting Styles Evaluation Scale and Revised Dynasty Scale. After first performing missing data, normality assumptions and outlier analyzes on the collected data, independent t-test, one-way analysis of variance and regression analysis were applied to test the hypotheses of the research. SPSS 21 package program was used in the analysis of the data and the findings were interpreted at a confidence level of .05. As a result of the research, it was found that married individuals use positive parenting styles more, their marital adjustment levels are above the average, and mothers use positive parenting styles more than fathers. While it was found that the parents who have more children use less positive parenting styles and use negative parenting styles more, it has been found that the number of children married individuals do not affect their marital relations. It has been found that the parenting styles used by married individuals according to their family life cycle differ in the positive parenting style sub-dimension, but do not differ in their marital adjustment levels. It was found that the moderator effect of the number of children on the relationship between parenting styles and marital adjustment was significant in both positive and negative styles, while the moderator effect of the family life cycle, whose moderator effect was investigated in the same relationship, was not found. The results of the research were discussed in the light of the relevant literature and theoretical information, and suggestions were made to researchers, practitioners and politicians.
