Magazines of Edebiyat-ı Umumiye (analysing, detailed content and selected texts)

Edebiyatı Umûmiye Mecmuası is a magazine aimed at analysing the atmosphere of the world war I, in İstanbul and Anatolia during the war (1916-1919). The magazine published by Celâl Nuri who is editor and organizer, aimed to reflect the literary life directly which has got many different ideas and trends and also economy, culture and politics. At the beginning of the study there is general information which is about literary life, political and social developments in Istanbul and Anatolia during the world war I. The publication of the era are introduced by the help of sources of that period. In the introduction part of the magazine, the period of publications, era, aim are determined, during the 110 issue, its performance, and its form are described. Moreoverthe biographies of the magazine writers as for as we could obtain are introduced the other writers whom we couldn't find any information about their life are just given with their works. In another part of the study information is given about all the types included in Edebiyat-ı Umumiye Magazine and about most important contents. There are articles, poems, stories, beautiful statements news of war etc. In the "Edebiyatı Umûmiye Mecmuası" all works are given in the content of the magazine. The magazine reflected social and culturel life, war, countries and their politics both in the literary works and other works. In the fourth part which is the last, the text which are chosen from the magazine have been translated into Latin oriented Turkish alphabet. While rewriting the chosen texts(poems, stories and literary works)with Latin characters the rules of original spelling and our phonetics are strickly obeyed. The unfamiliar names in the writings have been shown with their original forms. vn
