Functionality of associations for educational purposes (The sample of Istanbul province)

Abstract (EN)

Associations are organizations emerging to solve problems at the social level. This study was carried out in order to determine the functionality of the associations located in Istanbul. It examines activities of the education associations in Istanbul in terms of their educational level, the problems they encounter, the relations with other associations, and so on. Phenomenology (Case Science) which is a qualitative research method was used as a model in this research. Maximum diversity method which is one of the sampling purposes methods was used during the determination of samples in this study. Istanbul Province was divided into 7 regions in terms of socio-economic development. A total of 35 associations were interviewed. As a result of these interviows; 33 associations which answered the questions appropriately were selected within the data gathered from these interviews. İnterview technique was used as data collection method in the study. The data were analyzed through descriptive analysis method. In the analyzes, the frequency values were examined. As a result of the research; it is seen that the associations do not have enough activities and efforts in terms of education while some associations hardly ever engaje in any activities, same of them operate in an international structure.
