Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study is to search the stages of the religious education and teaching practices, starting with the proclamation of the Republic in Turkey brought to the present within the history of education and present it to researchers? benefit. For this purpose, after examining the madrasas and Elementary schools that had an important place in provision of religious education in the past, why they were closed have been tried to investigate. Then, developmental stages of religious education and teaching practices starting from the proclamation of the republic to the present have been examined. According to the results obtained in the study, religious educational and teaching practices have been discussed constantly within the education system. Many different options have been tried such as not including religion lesson in schools or be compulsory and elective. But also these experiences show that religious education must take place within the education system certainly. Instead of discussing the entity of religious education, should be focused on the qualification its. According to changing conditions, the restructuring of its should be able to discuss.
