Abstract (EN)
Throughout history, environmental, economic, social and cultural values have influenced sustainable development and have been important parts of the whole city. The industrial revolution in the 19th century caused a rapid transformation in the cities and caused the change of these values that make up the city. The physical changes of cities damaged city identities, caused rapid destruction of the environment and natural resources and so damaged the ecological structures of cities. These reasons led people to search for sustainable environment and nature and brought many concepts in order to protect the resources consumed. The most important of these were the city forms with various names such as eco cities, sustainable cities and green cities. The concept of ecocity forms the approach of interaction of the city and the environment and the development of city plans in accordance with environmental values. In this approach, it is necessary to make plans where natural resources are used in the most beneficial way. In this context; the eco-city models applied in the European Union and the World and the studies carried out for this have been examined, and the potentials that Bartın city possesses and are suitable for being an ecocenter have been revealed. In the study urban, rural and coastal areas were considered as a whole, were determined how much the city conforms to the parameters highlighted in the criteria of ecocity and suggestions were made to adapt the developable conditions to Bartın city. Within the scope of sustainability, the city's economic, social, cultural achievements and future-oriented eco-model model was tried to be presented.
