Abstract (EN)

In our country, the economic crisis, savings and credit card issues are among the subjects that are intensively researched. However, in the studies carried out to date, the relationship between the perception of savings that will occur in crisis periods and the meaning attributed to the use of credit cards in crisis periods has not been discussed. The aim of this study is to first examine the concepts of savings and credit cards theoretically and then to investigate the relationship between saving perception and credit card use in economic crisis periods. It was obtained from a consumer group of 400 people by the synthesis of the convenience sampling method and the snowball sampling method, which is necessary for the test of the hypotheses developed in accordance with the purpose of the study. As the tendency to save increases, the intensive use of credit cards decreases in crisis periods. As the perception of saving increases, the intensive use of credit cards increases statistically significantly during crisis periods. When the propensity to save in crisis periods is analyzed demographically; The propensity to save is different between men and women. Women tend to save more than men in times of crisis. As age and education increase, the tendency to save in times of crisis increases statistically significantly. As the level of education increases, the tendency to use credit cards intensively decreases in times of crisis.
