Abstract (EN)
This study aims to examine the occupational health and safety (OHS) knowledge levels and perceived competency of employees working at electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, and to identify their risk awareness needs in relation to various demographic variables. The research further seeks to contribute to the development of effective training programs and preventive strategies tailored to these identified needs. The sample consists of 55 employees actively working at fully operational EV charging stations located within the province of Ağrı, Türkiye. In the selection of stations, priority was given to charging units situated in close proximity to conventional fuel stations. Data were collected using a "Demographic Information Form," the "OHS Knowledge Level Scale" developed based on an extensive literature review and risk assessment studies, and the five-point Likert-type "OHS Perceived Competency Scale" developed by Kocaay (2020). The collected data were analysed through reliability analysis, factor analysis, regression analysis, independent samples t-test, and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). The findings revealed statistically significant differences in OHS knowledge levels based on age, educational attainment, and work experience. However, no significant differences were found with respect to income level, household size, or marital status. In terms of perceived competency, significant differences were observed based on age, professional experience, marital status, and income level, whereas education and family size did not yield statistically significant variations. Based on these findings, the study proposes recommendations aimed at enhancing employees' awareness and perceptions of occupational hazards and risks at EV charging stations. The results are expected to serve as a reference point for future academic research and practical applications in the field of occupational health and safety.
