Abstract (EN)
Aim: The aim of this research is to statistically examine the life skills of elite athletes in terms of demographic and sports-related variables. Materials and Methods: In this research, the study is a relational survey model, which is one of the quantitative research models. A total of 278 athletes, 112 women and 166 men, who are interested in elite athletics branch, were included in the study. The Life Skills Scale (Bolat & Balaman, 2017) and personal information form created with researchers and experts, were used as data collection tools. Descriptive statistics (frequency, arithmetic mean, standard deviation), Independent Sample T Test, One Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Scheffe multiple comparison test were used in the analysis of the data. The results were evaluated according to the p<0.05 significance level. Results and conclusion: As a result of the research, it was determined that the life skills levels of female athletes were higher than male athletes. After the study, it was determined that the life skills levels of the 27 years old and over group were higher than the 15-20 age group, and the 21-26 age group compared to the 15-20 age group. It has been determined that the level of life skills of the athletes with undergraduate education is higher than the athletes with high school education. It has been determined that the life skills levels of the athletes with an income level of 3001 TL and above are higher compared to the 0-1000 TL income group. It has been determined that the life skills levels of the athletes with 11 years or more of doing sports are higher than the ones with 1-5 years of doing sports. It has been determined that national athletes have higher life skill levels compared to non-national athletes. Athletes with a national degree have been found to have higher life skill levels compared to those without a degree. Athletes with an international degree have been found to have higher life skills compared to those without an international degree. Key Words: Life skills, life quality, athletics, sport
