Investigation of the communication skills and multi intelligence fields in elite level athletes

The aim of this study is to reveal the relationship between communication skills, demographic characteristics and multiple intelligence areas in sedentary individuals who actively participate in athletics competitions. Quantitative research model was used in the research. Turkcell Athletism Super League 1st Tierathletes of 179 people, Spor Toto athletism 1st League athletes of 163 people, 375 Individuals who do not do sports, a total of 717 people between the ages of 18-35 participated. After filling out the "Informed Consent Form" signed by the participants, there search was carried out by takingin to account the declaration of volunteerism. Demographic Information Form, "Multiple Intelligences Scale" and "Communication Skills Inventory" were applied to the participants. Frequency, percentage and mean Standard deviation were given in the descriptive statistics of the study data. Conformity to normal distribution of numerical data was evaluated with Skewness (between -.60 and 1.56) and Kurtosis (between -.56 and 1.99). In the comparison of the difference between the Communication Skills Inventory mean scores of individuals according to independent variables, t test and Mann Whitney U test in independent groups according to the number of samples in two-group variables, one-way analysis of variance in independent groups according to the number of samples in the groups in variables with three or more groups (advanced analysis Tukey HSD) and Kruskal Wallis test (Mann Whitney U test with Bonferroni correction for further analysis and Tukey) were used. Pearson Correlation analysis was used to evaluate the relationship between the Multiple Intelligences Scale scores and the Communication Skills Inventory scores of individuals. The independent variables that had an effect on the communication skills score of the individuals in the primary analyzes were evaluated with multiple linear regression (backward method) analysis. As a result of this study; it is seen that female have higher communication skills compared to male, sedentary and first league athletes to super league athletes, those with low education levels and monthly in come levels, employees have higher communication skills than non-employees, and communication skills cores decreaseas individuals' intelligence scores increase, and the average physical intelligence score of sedentary individuals is at a very high level compared to athletes.
