Sports injury of elite youth wrestlers examination of anxiety levels

In this study, was purpose to determine the sports injury anxiety levels of elite junior wrestlers and examine them according to various variables. The group of the study consists of 172 elite wrestlers between the ages of 18-20, who are in the category of women and men. The demographic information form prepared by the researchers and the Sports Injury Anxiety Scale developed by Rex and Metz (2016) and adapted into Turkish by Caz, Kayhan and Bardakçı (2019) were used as data collection tools in the study. The data were collected through a questionnaire. In the analysis of the study, the independent sample t-test was used to compare the quantitative continuous data between two independent groups from the parametric tests, and the One-way Anova test was used between more than two independent groups. Tukey test was used as a post-hoc analysis to determine differences between groups. A statistically significant difference was found in the sub-dimensions of the sports injury anxiety scale in terms of injury regions according to the styles of wrestlers (p <0.05). In the sub-dimension of suffering anxiety, the averages of male freestyle wrestlers are significantly higher than the male Greco-Roman style wrestlers, while the re-injury anxiety averages of male freestyle wrestlers are significantly higher than that of female wrestlers (p<0.05). Men's freestyle; It was observed that those who had neck injuries had significantly higher anxiety perception and loss of social support than those who did not (p<0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the anxiety scale sub-dimensions in terms of the variable of injury and location of injury due to the contact of the opponent player (p>0.05). As a result, it can be said that in the sub-dimensions of sports injury anxiety level of wrestlers, the anxiety levels of suffering and re-injury are affected the most, and the anxiety scores differ according to the injuries in the shoulder and neck area.
