The analysis of the change in hematologic values in sub-elite basketball players before and after competitions during the tournament season

KESKİN, İ.C The Analysis of the Change in Hematologic Values in Sub-elite Basketball Players Before and After Competitions During the Tournament Season. The aim of this research is to "Analyze the change in hematologic parameters in sub-elite basketball players before and after competitions during the tournament season." The research includes 12 players competing in 2016-2017 Season Turkish Basketball Federation Men's Regional Basketball League(experiment group) and 11 male basketball players(sedentery control). The experiment group (n=12) age:23,58 ±1,37 years, height:189,66 ± 9,46 cm, body weight:91,83± 12,14 kg) and the control group (n=11) (age:22,54 ±1,96 years , height: 189,9 ± 6,75 cm , body weight :90,08± 9,27 kg ) have been formed. Among the bloodwork parameters; Erythrocyte Count (RBC), Leukocyte Count (WBC),Thrombocyte Count (PLT),Hemoglobin (HGB), Hematocrit (HTC), Mean Erythrocyte Volume (MCV), Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin (MCH), Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin Concentration (MCHC), Lymphocyte (LYM) and Monocyte (MON) have been measured for four consecutive days before and after competitions, making up for a total of eight times. To determine the changes before and after the matches, the software "SPSS 23" has been used with the level of significance set to α=0.05. Two-sample K-S test normality test has been used and the variables have been determined to have a normal distribution (p>0.05). The changes in hematologic parameters of the experiment and control groups have been compared with Two way repeated ANOVA with level of significance set to α=0.05 At the end of the research; the values of HTC and HGB before and after the match, MCH before the match, and the values of MON and WBC after the match have shown statistically significant changes in both the experiment and control groups (p<0.05) Keywords: Basketball, Hematologic blood parameters.
