Abstract (EN)
Established at Mesopotamia in B.C I. millennium, New Assyrian Empire was one of the powerful and advanced civilization of its time in fields of economics, political, religion and military. Assyria was mesopotamia-North Iraq centered but with the expansion policies of Assyrian Kings, country's borders was widened through Mediterranean to the west, Aleppo to the east and southeast Taurus Mountains to the north. Assyrians followed an expansion policy therefore war strategies was impportant for them. They used important strategies for wars. Assyriansdid not wagedwaragainstothernations onlybecausetheyfollowed an expansionpolicy.Because of these wars Assyrians improved their economical power and man power. It can be understand from epigraphic and descriptive findings that spoils of war contained an important role for the kingdom.There are many findings about spoils of war along with other topics in written sources belongs tokings of New Assyria II. Assur-dan, II. Adad-nirari, II. Tukulti-ninurta, II. Asur-nasir-apli, III. Shalmeneser,II. Sargon, Sennaherib, V. Şamsi-Adad and III. Adad-nirari. Kings mentioned above started military actions against nearby factions. Result of these military actions Assyrians acclaimed humans, animals, woods, ivory goods, minerals, metal goods and wheeled vehicles as spoils of war. Both sea/river and land transportation were used to deliver spoils of war to their country. Boats were used for sea transportation and two wheeled vehicles were used for land transportation.
