Abstract (EN)
This research has been carried out to study the correlation between the self-image level and psychological resilience of adolescents aged between 14-18. Also, the correlation between self-image level and the demographic aspects which are considered to be theoritecally related to self image such as gender, age, school type, educational background of the parents and the amount of siblings has been researched. This research is designed with relational screening model and the population of the survey is the 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th level students of Giresun/Görele Anatolian High School and a college in Ordu city. The sample of the research is the 246 voluntary students in which are 147 females and 99 males. Demographic Information Form, Offer Self Image Scale and Adolescent Psychological Resilience Scale have been used in order to collect data. For the statistical analysis of the data, SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) for Windows 22.0 has been used. Evaluating the data, descriptive statistical methods have been used (frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation)and the analyses of the data is measured by the non parametric methods like Wilcoxon rank-sum test (Kruskal Wallis) and Mann-Whitney U test. The results have been evaluated in 95% confidence interval and the level of significance is p<0,05. The result of the study reveals that there is a significant negative correlation between the inconsistency of self image and psychological resilience. It also indicates that when the level of the inconsistency in self-image becomes higher, on the contrary, psychological resilience becomes weaker . The results of the study show that there is a significant difference between self-image level and the variates of age, gender and education level of the parents.
