Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this study is to examine the relationships between positive future expectations, intolerance of uncertainty and post-traumatic symptoms in adolescents between the ages of 13-18. The sample of the research consists of a total of 934 high school students studying at anatolian and vocational high schools in Gaziantep; 479 of them are women and 455 are men. When selecting individuals to be included in the research, the convenience sampling method, one of the purposeful sampling methods, was chosen. In the research, data was collected using a personal information form, positive future expectation scale, intolerance of uncertainty scale and impact of events scale. In the analysis of the data, t-test for unrelated samples and one-way analysis of variance were used for the relationships between demographic variables. Pearson Product Moment Correlation Analysis was performed to determine the relationship between positive future expectation, intolerance of uncertainty, post-traumatic symptoms measured by the impact of events scale, gender and school type. Multiple Linear Regression Analysis was used to determine the prediction of post-traumatic symptoms by the total scores of positive future expectation, intolerance of uncertainty, school type and gender. According to the Pearson Product Moment Correlation Analysis, it was determined that there was a significant relationship between positive future expectations, intolerance of uncertainty and post-traumatic symptoms. While a low negative relationship was found between positive future expectation and intolerance of uncertainty, a similarly low negative relationship was found between positive future expectation and post-traumatic symptoms. A positive, moderate relationship was found between intolerance of uncertainty and post-traumatic symptoms. According to the results of Multiple Linear Regression Analysis, intolerance of uncertainty, positive future expectation, school type and gender predict post-traumatic symptoms; It was determined that grade level, socioeconomic status and department variables did not significantly predict post-traumatic symptoms. Positive future expectations, intolerance of uncertainty, school type and gender explain 24.7% of the variance in post-traumatic symptoms.
