Investigation of cyber bullying behavior and demographic changes in adolescents: A meta analysis study

The aim of this study was to obtain an overview of whether demographic characteristics and Computer usage status factors have an effect on cyber bullying behaviors of adolescents. The studies of changes related to cyber bullying of adolescents in the last seven years (2012-2018) at Turkey is analyzed again by the Meta-analysis method. The scope of the research; we studied the articles and theses about cyber bullying of adolescents that were done in Turkey until 2018. Data were analyzed using meta-analysis method. Medcalc®v10.3.0 package program and metaHUN web tool were used in Meta Analysis stage. The study included 16 articles about demographic characteristics, number of people, mean of scores and standard deviation scores related to cyber bullying of adolescents. we found According to the results of the meta-analysis: gender, the level of mother education and daily internet time had an effect on cyber bullying, but the situation of father education and whether there is a computer at home had no effect on cyber bullying. All of studies in turkey between the years 2012-2018, had been scanned by the meta-analysis. according to the reached results; Gender had an effect on cyber bullying: the boys were more than girls in cyber bullying. Mother's educational status had an effect on cyberbullying: the result of the mother's educational status in the middle school and who are under it is more cyber bullying than the high school and who over it. Father's education status and the situation of being a computer at home had no effect on cyberbullying. It had been found that the daily time is spent on the internet had an effect on cyberbullying: spending 3 hours or more per day on the internet had a greater effect than pending less than 3 hours per day.
