Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to adolescents students at High School examine the relationship among psychological resiliance, level of happiness and defense mechanisms. The other objective is to determine degree of difference that defense mechanisms, psychological resiliance and happiness level show that in connection with demographic variety (age, sex, socio-demograpich etc…). The sampleof this study was collected from 430 high school students studying in Antakya in 2016-2017 education years with using survey method. The final analysis was done over 392 complete and accurate respondents (190 female / 202 male), ranging in age from 15 to 18 years students. In this research, in addition to Sociodemographic Questionnaire prepared by the researcher, the Brief Resilience Scale (BRS), the Oxford Happiness Questionnaire-Short Form (OHQ-SF) and the Defense Style Questionnaire (DSQ-40) has been applied. The results of this research shows defense mechanisms that found pseudo-altruism to the most commonly employed defense mechanisms among in adolescents. The results of this research shows that there was a strong positive significant relationship between psychological resiliance and happiness level in adolescents (r=0,73). There is a weak negative correlation between psychological resiliance with immature (r=-0,47) and neurotic (r=-0,34) defense mechanisms. However, it was found that there was a weak positive correlation between psychological resiliance and mature defense mechanisms (r=0,29). There is a weak positive correlation between happiness level and mature defense mechanisms (r=0,28). Futhermore, when examined happiness level with defense mechanisms, a weak negative correlation was determined between neurotic defense mechanism (r=-0,37), while a medium negative one was found between immatur defense mechanisms (r=-0,50). Also, there is a strong positive correlation between neurotic and immature defense mechanisms (r=0,75). There is a weak negative correlation between neurotic and mature defense mechanisms (r=-0,31). Also, there is a medium negative correlation between immature and mature defense mechanisms (r=-0,54). The marks of psychological resiliance, happiness level and defense mechanisms show significant difference according to some socio-demographic such as family structure and attitude, economical situation, received social or psychological support etc… The results which have been gotten show that overcoming stress and trauma situations and determining defence mechanisms form of adaptation and implying individuals psychological strong sides to appearing happiness level and to find out which factors effecting is really important on adolescents. Psychological resilience well position, appearing happiness and mature defence mechanisms, modeled the person who is sick and need to be cured that understanding change to individual is healty and need to improve his positive features that to be determined in positive psychology understanding.
