According to Erol Güngör, the position of language and values in the programme of social studies education

It is appeared that everything in the world and in our Turkey has been changing with the effects of developing technology at any time. It is also thought that the reflection of positive and negative effects of these changes are effective on children who are at Primary Education age as on other people . It is possible to say that there are important duties for Social Studies in terms of providing the students ,at Primary School age, more conscious and educating them in the best way against the destructive and destroying effects of these developments. In this regard,it is thought that understanding clearly Güngör's ideas especially about language and values will supply to teach Social Studies lesson more effectively. It was dealt the relationship between values which Social Studies aim to give all values and the point of view of Güngör and the values, which he emphasizes on, and it was analyzed the the relationship between language in this study which is titled as "According to Erol Güngör the Position of Language and Values in the Programme of Social Studies Education". Document review, one of the qualitative research method, was used in the study. In addition to Erol Güngör's works, journals, books and articles which were written about his ideas while datas were being collected. In addition, analyzing the datas taken places in Primary Education of Social Studies in 5th, 6th and 7th grades schedules and in course books of same grades which started to be applied in 2005, were included in this works. In the study, learning domains, taken place in the programme in Social Studies at Primary Education, and values which were aimed to give directly were discussed. While the position in the programme of values aimed to given at directly were being stated, we used the related functions and explanations in units which are in course books. So it was tried to confirm the relationship between the values which Social Studies aims to give directly and Güngör's point of view. In the epilogues of the works, it was stated that there is considerable similarities between the subject of language and values, which Güngör emphasized importantly, and the values which Social Studies aims to give.
