Revolt philosophy of albert Camus in the context of ethics

In this thesis, Albert Camus' philosophy of rebellion will be studied in the context of ethics. The main goal of the thesis, is to show that rebellion for Camus, is the only moral way of salvation for people who struggle with meaninglessness of the world. Another goal of the thesis is to put forward Camus' originality within the existentialist tradition. For that purpose, in the first chapter, in general, the fundamental characteristics and roots of existentialism, differences and common characteristics between Christian and atheistic existentialists; have been discussed, in the context of ethics as well as the ideas of the leading names of the existential philosophy. In the second chapter, the absurdity has been analyzed, leading people to revolt, in the philosophy of Camus in every respect. We also try to show the absurdity of Camus that appeared in the relationship between humans and the world and yet this phenomen is inevitable. Therefore this condition shows us how one lives in this case. In the third chapter, the rebellion has been studied as one of the consequences of the absurdity and examined the suicide as a concept to be incongruous with the rebellion; and also looked into quantitative morality; and then the metaphysical and historical dimensions of rebellion in the context of ethics have been spelled out. In the fourth and final chapter, philosophy of Camus and other existentialist philosophers have been compared –with each other in terms of god, absurdity, rebellion, etc-. And this comparison shows us the right place of Camus in the existentialist thought and existentialist philosophies. In this thesis, it has been emphasized that the origin of Camus' philosophy of rebellion is based on an an ethical view which can say "us"; and it is concluded that the life is worth living and the life itself is a value. This conclusion also show us that it's possible even to live "unselfishly" in a world dominated by greed and selfishness.
